“You love who you love” — and Andy Cohen and John Mayer love each other.
On Wednesday’s episode of SiriusXM’s “The Howard Stern Show,” Cohen, 55, told Stern, “I am in love with John Mayer. We are in love with each other.”
Cohen and Mayer, 45, have been longtime friends.
The “New Light” singer sang to Cohen for his 50th birthday, spoke at his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in February 2022 and attended the baby shower for Cohen’s son.
Stern, 69, commented that Mayer was probably the most-mentioned person in Cohen’s new book, “The Daddy Diaries: The Year I Grew Up,” pointing out that the pair have even been on camping trips together.
“Swear on your children’s lives that there has never been anything sexual between you and John Mayer,” Stern prompted.
“Yes. I do. I swear,” Cohen said, swearing on the lives of his children, Ben, 4, and Lucy, 1.
Fans of Cohen and Mayer have often wondered the same thing — and there have even been rumors of the two being in a sexual relationship.
After the singer’s birthday serenade of Cohen, the “Watch What Happens Live” host had to clarify that they weren’t dating, though he wasn’t surprised fans thought so.
“Listen, we have a very sweet friendship, and we are together all the time. I think that I was not surprised because we also have a great love for each other. So, it just seems like the obvious assumption,” he told CNN in 2018.
Cohen explained the pair’s friendship in December 2022 on iHeart’s podcast “Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi.”
“John Mayer is someone who is very in touch with his emotions,” Cohen told Bruce Bozzi.
“He very quickly in our friendship started saying, ‘You know what, I gotta tell you something — I love you.’”
“He is someone to say, ‘I love you and I cherish you and I cherish our friendship’ — just this stuff that straight guys aren’t necessarily supposed to say,” Cohen added.
