JoJo Siwa says she 'wasn't invited' to the 2022 Kids' Choice Awards... despite earning a nomination in their favorite social music star category
JoJo Siwa claims she did not receive an invitation to the 2022 Kids' Choice Awards on Sunday, despite receiving a nomination as Favorite Social Music Star category.
After receiving questions from fans about her absence from the ceremony, held at The Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, the 18-year-old Boomerang singer alleged to her 11.5 followers that she was not included on the guest list.
'A lot of you have been asking me why I'm not at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards tonight, and the answer is very simple, I wasn't invited,' the dancer revealed in the 14-second clip. 'I'm not sure why, but I just didn't get an invite.'
In her caption, Siwa added that she didn't 'want anyone to think it was' it was her 'choice not to go' as she would have loved to been in attendance.
The performer's Dancing with the Stars family, including Olivia Jade and Brian Austin Green, were among the first to leave supportive messages in her comment section.
'Their loss sweetness ❤️,' the 22-year-old daughter of Lori Loughlin and fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli wrote.
Meanwhile, Green, 48, fired: 'F**k the kids choice awards [laugh face emoji] you are too good for them.'
Jersey Shore's Snooki said she plans on writing the network 'a note' and actress Mollee Gray theorized that Siwa didn't get an invite because she's 'the color of the rainbow and they're [Nickelodeon] just orange.'
Her legions of fans, called Siwanatorz, also took to social media to express their outrage and confusion.
'The only year that @itsjojowsiwa didn't get invited to the kids choice awards is when she comes out and cuts her hair?????? Sus @Nickelodeon,' one Twitter user wrote, which Siwa retweeted.
Another tweeted: 'Imagine not inviting Jojo Siwa to the kids choice awards despite how iconic she is for a generation?? Smells homophobic to me idk Nickelodeon.'
Another said they were 'losing' their mind over 'Snooki threatening to write a NOTE to Nickelodeon for not inviting Jojo.'
In September, Siwa publicly called out Nickelodeon over the restrictions that she said the company put in place for her D.R.E.A.M. tour, which began in January.
'I go out on tour in January. My movie musical was just released (with 6 new original songs)… Nickelodeon told me today that I'm not allowed to perform/add any of the songs from the film into my show,' JoJo tweeted.
Siwa went on to say, 'These are MY songs, MY voice, MY writing. Does this seem fair???'
The Dance Moms alum then replied to her first heated Tweet, writing, 'There is no reason that this music should not be included.'

She concluded, 'Working for a company as a real human being treated as only a brand is fun until it's not.'
Siwa's movie musical The J Team was produced by Nickelodeon and released to the Paramount+ streaming platform on September 3. In addition to starring in the film, JoJo also served as executive producer.
In her tweets, the YouTube personality was referring to the six songs that she wrote and performed for the movie's soundtrack, which was released in July.
JoJo's D.R.E.A.M. tour, which was also produced by Nickelodeon, first kicked off in May 2019 but its continuation was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tour is set to resume in January 2022 and will stop in 37 cities.
Siwa has a long-standing relationship with Nickelodeon, having first inked a talent deal with the network in 2017.
She came out as a member of the LGBTQ in April 2021.
