Warning: SPOILERS for Cobra Kai season 3.
By the end of Cobra Kai season 3, the karate kids of West Valley High have been reshuffled amongst three dojos, with Johnny Lawrence's (William Zabka) new Eagle Fang Karate joining Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai. Further, Johnny and Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) finally decided to set aside their differences and work together because it's the only way to stop John Kreese (Martin Kove). Senseis LaRusso and Lawrence even combined their dojos and they all now train at the home of the late Mr. Miyagi (Noriyuki "Pat" Morita).
Part of the fun of Cobra Kai is seeing how the teenage karate students evolve in their skills while they also grow and change as people, which has led several of the show's main characters to switch allegiances between Johnny, Daniel, and Kreese. In Cobra Kai season 1, as Johnny's resurrected Cobra Kai was growing its roster, his estranged son Robby Keene (Tanner Buchanan) became Daniel's lone student. Samantha LaRusso (Mary Mouser) joined Miyagi-Do in season 2 as Cobra Kai continued to welcome new members, like Tory Nichols (Peyton List), but Kreese stealing Cobra Kai from Johnny also changed things significantly, as did the life-threatening injuries Miguel Diaz (Xolo Mariduena) suffered at the end of Cobra Kai seas0n 2. Daniel also shut down Miyagi-Do in his grief after the tragic brawl at West Valley High.
Cobra Kai season 3 saw Kreese's students running roughshod over the valley, with a traumatized Sam trying to hold down the fort with Miyagi-Do's remaining students. But as season 3 progressed, Daniel and Johnny both returned to their true roles as senseis; LaRusso restarted Miyagi-Do and welcomed his students back while Lawrence founded a new dojo, the hilariously named Eagle Fang Karate, with Miguel and some ex-Cobra Kai members.
By the end of Cobra Kai season 3, the rosters rotated again as the stakes were raised: the All Valley Under 18 Karate Tournament will now settle all scores according to the deal Johnny and Daniel struck with Kreese. While all three dojos have more students in the background as extras, obviously, the key players are the main characters of Cobra Kai. Now, with Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang working together, as well as a couple of major defections and acquisitions, here's who's part of which dojo going into Cobra Kai season 4 (named characters only).
Cobra Kai's Roster
Robby Keene - Johnny Lawrence's prodigal son is Cobra Kai's biggest problem child, but he has firmly landed on the side of John Kreese's black and yellow dojo. Robby is already trained in Miyagi-Do's style, but he has reasons to mistrust his father and Daniel, his ex-sensei, which made Robby easy prey for Kreese, who can feed his desire for revenge. Robby is a prized catch for Cobra Kai; he made it to the finals of the 2018 All Valley Karate Tournament and he has to be a favorite to win the 2019 tourney as well.
Tory Nichols - Tory is the unrelenting arch-enemy of Samatha LaRusso, and she's one of the most talented and dangerous fighters in Cobra Kai. Kreese values Tory so much that he went to great lengths to bring her back to the dojo, and he sees her as perhaps the most gifted natural athlete on his roster. Tory also has sociopathic tendencies, which makes her a young, female version of Kreese.
Kyler - Kyler (Joe Seo) was a Cobra Kai season 1 bully (and ex-boyfriend of Sam) who reappeared in season 3 and was recruited by Kreese. Kyler has an amateur wrestling background and he's a jerk prone to violence because of the parental abuse he suffers at home. This makes him exactly the kind of student that John Kreese can mold into a dangerous fighter.
Miyagi-Do's Roster
Samatha LaRusso - As Daniel's daughter, Sam is part of Mr. Miyagi's legacy and she remembers him fondly as a grandfather figure. Sam is also a lightning rod for drama in West Valley High, having dated Kyler, Miguel, Robby, and now Miguel again, as well as being Tory's arch-enemy. However, Sam has been trained in Miyagi-Do karate since she was 8 and she's a talented fighter who understands Mr. Miyagi's philosophy better than anyone except Daniel and Chozen (Yuji Okumoto).
Demetri - Neurotic nerd Demetri (Gianni DeCenzo) had perhaps the most remarkable turnaround of Cobra Kai season 3 as he gained confidence and Demetri even got Yasmine (Annalisa Cochrane) as his girlfriend! Demetri was also victimized and had his arm broken by Cobra Kai, but this didn't break his spirit or his commitment to Miyagi-Do, which shows just how much he's grown.
Chris - Chris (Khalil Everage) is a big WWE fan who joined and then quit Cobra Kai because he hated the brutality Kreese taught. Chris joined up with Miyagi-Do and helped Sam keep the students together when the dojo's doors were closed. Chris is a reliable friend and he's also happy that his best friend Mitch (Aiden Mincks) left Cobra Kai in season 3.
Nathaniel - The youngest member of Miyagi-Do, Nathaniel (Nathaniel Oh) wasn't seen as much in Cobra Kai season 3 but he's still part of Daniel LaRusso's dojo and he helped out in the car wash to raise money for Miguel's medical bills.
Eagle Fang Karate's Roster
Miguel Diaz - Eternally loyal to his best friend and sensei, Johnny, Miguel regained the use of his legs in Cobra Kai season 3, thanks to Sensei Lawrence's unusual but effective rehab. Miguel then gave Johnny back his mojo as a sensei and he helped found Eagle Fang Karate. Diaz is the current All Valley Karate Champion but he's still not fully recovered from his injuries so the jury is out if he can still be the fighter he was and defend his championship in Cobra Kai season 4.
Mitch - Mitch, nicknamed "Penis Breath", which he's inexplicably okay with, was kicked out of Cobra Kai by Kreese for not being tough enough. He ended up joining Eagle Fang Karate, which finally puts him back on the side of his best friend and fellow WWE fan Chris.
Bert - Young, blond, and wearing glasses, Bert (Owen Morgan) was a dedicated Cobra Kai who Kreese nonetheless expelled because he didn't want to feed the mouse he named Clarence to Kreese's pet snake. Bert joined Eagle Fang Karate so he's now back training under his original sensei, Johnny, and he's reunited with his former best friend Nathaniel.
Unknown Affiliation
Eli "Hawk" Moskowitz - After 3 seasons as the most fanatical Cobra Kai student, Hawk had a change of heart and left his dojo, choosing to fight alongside Demetri (whose arm he broke earlier in the season) in Cobra Kai's season 3 finale. As Johnny pointed out, it was his teaching that drove Eli to "flip the script" and reboot himself as Hawk, but Kreese's "no mercy" philosophy turned him into an a**hole. It's not clear which dojo Hawk joined at the end of Cobra Kai season 3; he's standing next to Demetri but Hawk may have joined Eagle Fang instead of Miyagi-Do.
Aisha Robinson - Aisha (Nichole Brown) was Cobra Kai's first female student but she wasn't in season 3, with the explanation that her parents transferred her out of West Valley High in the wake of season 2's climactic brawl. However, Aisha could return in Cobra Kai season 4 - the question is which dojo would she join since she has friends in all three?
Raymond AKA Stingray - Stingray (Paul Walter Hauser) was Cobra Kai's oldest student who also wasn't in season 3, and he's even banned from being around kids now. However, Stingray could reappear in Cobra Kai season 4 but will he take up with Kreese once more or would he be repentant and try to get in good with Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang?
